Mèche

Drawing inspiration from skyscrapers and Japanese pottery, drill bits and baskets, this striking floor lamp stands over a meter tall, illuminating a room with a soft phosphorescent glow from the length of its twirling form.

The lamp’s diffusing body consists of 83 stacked acrylic planes.

Narrowing as they rise, they surround the cold-cathode fluorescent tube in the center, refracting its light to accentuate the twist.

The twist that defines the lamp’s form continues through its base.

From top to bottom, the lamp’s rounded square cross-section completes one full 360-degree rotation.

The base contains the electrodes of the cold-cathode fluorescent tube, as well as its transformer/ballast unit.
