Vespertina

A guitar shape sketched in 2002, but which wouldn’t hatch into the real world until after ten years of being sat upon (literally, as I carried it in my wallet), this is Vespertina: a silhouette of elegant curves and cusps combined with sinuous topography; the finest materials and components in an uncomplicated package.

From sketch to CAD model, through 3D rendering and foam mockup, and finally, CNC-cut out of a bookmatched maple block: Vespertina’s body is drilled and routed for a Gibson-style elevated bridge, and is mated to a Warmoth neck and fitted with Seymour Duncan Hot P-90 pickups.

Vespertina is the specific name for the evening grosbeak, a North American songbird. I hope the resemblance is apparent.
